PART 1

In another world or Universe, our bratty and lovable vampire bat girl Delvine isn't a gamer, skater, streamer or foodie but instead...a huntress in the jungles of the Misty Isles.

By day she's most likely resting beneath the enormous roots of an ancient jungle tree or sleeping inside some forgotten ruin where the sunlight can't reach her. But once the sun disappears beyond the sea and mist begins crawling between the trees, Delvine wakes up.

And that usually means something is about to have a very bad night.

The Misty Isles are beautiful from a distance. Emerald mountains, turquoise water, waterfalls spilling from vine-covered cliffs...the sort of place sailors write songs about. Unfortunately, the songs tend to leave out the giant spiders, blood-drinking orchids, man-eating reptiles and whatever keeps making those enormous footprints along the beaches.

That's where Delvine comes in.

Armed with a pair of curved hunting knives, a spear and a ridiculously oversized crossbow she insists is "completely necessary," she stalks the jungle beneath the moonlight. Her sensitive bat ears catch every snapping twig. Her red eyes pierce through the fog. Even her nose twitches when something unfamiliar crosses her trail.

The jungle is filled with creatures that consider wandering travelers an easy meal.

Tonight, Delvine is hunting one of them.

The islanders call it the Mossback Devil, a massive horned predator responsible for disappearing livestock and several unfortunate hunters. Delvine has tracked it for three nights through rain, mud and enough insects to thoroughly ruin her mood.

She crouches atop the moss-covered remains of an ancient temple, gripping her spear.

"Three nights for one oversized lizard..."

A branch snaps below.

Two enormous yellow eyes open within the darkness.

Delvine slowly grins, revealing her fangs.

"Found you."

Then the jungle erupts.
