Rick-The basic ass fighter
Character Concept: Rick, the Basic-Ass Fighter
Rick is a 35-year-old human who once dreamed of adventure, treasure, fame, and romance. Then he grew up.
At fifteen, he found work in a kitchen. What was supposed to be temporary became twenty years of his life. Rick was never naturally gifted, but repetition taught him what talent never did. He burned enough onions to learn when they were done, ruined enough sauces to learn how they broke, and made enough mistakes to spot them before others did. Eventually, he became good. Never brilliant. Just good.
He earned promotions, trained apprentices, and even became head chef of a popular new tavern. For a while, he convinced himself that cooking had been his true calling all along. Then the job crushed him. Orders piled up, specials flopped, mistakes multiplied, and younger cooks with real talent surpassed him with ease. A final argument with the owner ended his position, and every job after that went worse.
By thirty-five, Rick was homeless, jobless, nearly penniless, and painfully aware that the only thing he had ever become moderately good at was something his worn-out body could no longer keep doing.
One night, drinking alone in a tavern, he overheard a group of adventurers celebrating a bounty. They laughed about danger, travel, and where they might go next. Rick remembered the boy he had been, the one who once wanted all of that.
Then it hit him.
He had nothing.
Nothing to lose.
“Fuck it.”
Before he could talk himself out of it, Rick spent nearly every coin he had left on secondhand leather armor, used camping gear, and a cheap sword he had absolutely no idea how to use.
Now he’s going adventuring.
He is tired, depressed, out of shape, completely untrained, and has roughly the same combat experience as the average cabbage. He is not chosen by prophecy, blessed by a god, or secretly gifted.
He’s just Rick.
A basic-ass fighter who finally stopped waiting to become extraordinary before allowing himself to begin.
