I recently watched the Needy Girl Overdose anime adaptation which came out earlier in 2026. It was fascinating to see Ame-chan's tragic backstory, as well as a social commentary about the menhera side of internet live-streamer culture. I was surprised by how philosophical and deep it got, especially about the meaning of beauty, loneliness, escapism, and the human desire to reach divinity through art. It also gets very dark at certain points, with themes of self-harm, suicide, psychological horror... be warned!
