I saved her, but lost everything.
After more than a month without posting, I think it’s time to share what happened.
I had to walk away from one of my D&D tables. It was because I’d become completely fed up with the DM there. But for a long time, I considered those players my friends. The best people I’d ever played D&D with.
There was a conflict with the DM. I reacted in anger and decided to leave. I lost my patience. It was not the first time that DM screwed things like this. I once clearly said I wanted to grab a jar of WATER to extinguish a fire, and he said it was OIL at the last second...
Story is:
I wanted to RP as Nilou. My most beloved character in my world. But the DM and the players began to target her. And the breaking point happened when Nilou called for the guards who were supposed to be their subordinates, they resulted to be enemies.
That DM ended up closing a door at my face that had long been important to me. But what happened next is what truly devastated me. People who had been with me for a very long time ended up defending the DM. And the strangest part was that even people who hadn't even witnessed the conflict ended up taking His side. That was when I realized something pretty unpleasant: DnD players are NOT your friends. Sometimes, it only takes one bad moment to ruin everything. And don't RP a female character.
This month that I just disappeared, that I stopped posting. I lost the desire to share my characters, my stories, and that whole world I’d spent so long building. But like I said in my previous post: I would NOT Let them Win and ruin me this. They were unreplaceable for me, but with their betrayal, they made themeselves disposable.
Now that I've run 5 successful sessions with the new party, I think I'm back. So, here I am again. I’m back because I still have stories to tell. And because, after everything that has happened. They still haven't managed to take away my desire to create.
This image of Hadriakin Arkorius defending Nilou is, in a way, a fitting way to close that chapter.
