😀THE CHUCKLE HOUR😀
The Otaku Chuckle Hour was never supposed to be a serious podcast. It started as three friends, Haru, Mika and Ren, recording after midnight because none of them could agree on what to watch next season. Now it has a neon sign, a Rodecaster Pro that Ren is weirdly protective of, and a small but loyal chat that lives for the moments when the conversation goes completely off script. Every episode has the same energy. Haru is the one who will defend a terrible plot twist for twenty minutes, Mika is the one who keeps the show on track until she decides not to, and Ren is the one who asks the questions that make everyone else incriminate themselves. They have been doing this long enough that they can tell when someone is about to say something they will regret, and they live for it. Tonight Mika opens with what she calls a warm up question. So, who's the nerdiest? It is meant to be quick, everyone says one thing and they move on. Ren says he has a spreadsheet for seasonal anime. Mika says she owns three versions of the same limited edition light novel. Then Haru just sighs and goes for honesty. Well, I play video games and I watch hentai porn. He says it like it is a perfectly normal resume line. There is a beat of pure silence where you can hear the room tone. Then Ren chokes on water, Mika wheezes, and Haru immediately tries to backtrack and explain which somehow makes it worse. The chat explodes, the laugh meter on the Rodecaster clips into red, and that clip becomes the cold open for the next three episodes. By the end of the night they never actually answer the original question, because the answer is obviously all three of them, and that is why people keep listening.
