[WIP] International Striker Academy
Founded: 2203 Capital: Longyearbyen Government: Neutral corporate-academic council territory Director: Matthias Sørensen, 61 Population: ~18 million
The International Striker Academy is not one of the five global factions, but a neutral territory recognized by all of them. Established in 2203, it governs the island territories of Svalbard and George Land, which were gradually transformed into the world's most important center for Striker pilot training, simulation systems, weapons testing, and Striker manufacturing.
The Academy was created during a period of rising tension between the major powers. As Strikers became the dominant military platform of the age, the corporations responsible for designing and producing them quickly realized that remaining inside the territory of any single confederation was strategically dangerous. A manufacturer based entirely inside Meridian, the Concordat, Jade, Solar, or the Directorate could easily be pressured, nationalized, or drawn into factional politics.
To avoid that, the leading companies relocated their core research campuses, testing grounds, simulation complexes, production facilities, and executive headquarters to the Arctic territories. These remote northern islands were gradually converted into a heavily urbanized neutral zone protected by international treaty and economic necessity. By the mid-23rd century, the Academy had become both a military institution and an industrial powerhouse.
Its government is highly unusual. The territory is administered by a Council of Seven, composed of the Director of the Academy and one representative from each of the six major Striker manufacturing corporations. Together, they oversee security, infrastructure, industrial regulation, education policy, trade, and the legal neutrality of the territory. The current Director, Matthias Sørensen, 61, is a former aerospace engineer and defense administrator known for his strict interpretation of neutrality.
