Legends are part of the folk cultures of various peoples, encompassing a wide diversity of narratives and themes.

Most, however, share a common trait: an obscure origin and a history of widespread oral transmission, which has led to many variations. One example of such a tale—some of which carry paranormal overtones—is that of the "Mothman" of San Luis Potosí (SLP), who, according to internet users, is currently terrorizing the local inhabitants.

The Mothman is a large, supposedly anthropomorphic being that heralds catastrophes in the regions it visits. Consequently, when it is sighted, people prepare for the worst.

This is the case in San Luis Potosí, where this monstrosity has reportedly been sighted—according to local media outlets and some social media users—who state that the "Mothman" appeared in the Tequisquiapan neighborhood on the night of February 15th. The description characterizes it as an enormous, winged man, larger than any bird, suggesting that this was not a case of mistaken identity.
