As some of you may be aware, Sylvia’s apothecary shop is named “The Crystal Method”, a name I borrowed from the Electronic music group of the same name. Years ago, I was a lot more into the whole “crystals, tarot, and witchcraft” thing, so I thought it would be a fun name for an apothecary.

On Halloween 2018, I met a girl named Jessica who would read Tarot Cards for me for the first time, and it was an awesome experience. She and I roleplayed the whole thing within the world of The Arcana: A Mystic Romance, where she was a visitor to my shop, and read my cards in exchange for a couch to crash on for the night.

I used “the crystal method” as the name for my shop, and that roleplay started the expanded universe that would eventually become Lorrewynnter. I even dug up the name Vayreni, which I had used for an old “animagus” character of mine, as the name for Sylvia’s cat! That roleplay was also the first time I used the name Sylvia for myself, as I was trying out different names at the time. So, in a way, even though my relationship with Jessica was relatively shortlived (yes, I ended up dating her for a short while!), it helped light the fire that would inspire everything I do here now, and even helped me eventually pick the name I would eventually legally change my own name to!
