Backstory: Born in Los Angeles to wealthy Spanish archaeologist Alejandro Torres and Ethiopian-born Selam Kassa, Sasha Torres grew up surrounded by privilege, academic influence, and cultural diversity. Unlike her introverted younger sister, Sasha was outgoing, adventurous, competitive, and fiercely independent from an early age.

Although she loved and respected her father, Sasha never shared Imani's intense emotional dependence on him. Instead, she gravitated toward sports, athletics, and physical challenges, frequently testing her limits and getting into trouble for her rebellious behavior.

Everything changed in 2010 when Alejandro contracted severe leptospirosis (Weil's disease) during an archaeological expedition in the Amazon rainforest. The infection progressed rapidly, causing life-threatening kidney and liver complications, ultimately resulting in his death.

Sasha was fourteen years old.

Although devastated, she refused to let her grief overwhelm her in front of her younger sister. Witnessing eight-year-old Imani's emotional collapse, Sasha gradually assumed the role of her protector, determined to prevent her sister from experiencing further suffering.

Unable to express her own emotions openly, Sasha poured her grief, frustration, and anger into athletics. What began as a coping mechanism eventually developed into a lifelong passion for physical fitness, weightlifting, and bodybuilding.
