Lightning is the most powerful of all the characters in the Final Fantasy franchise. Lightning, born Claire Farron (Eclaire), is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII and the central character of the Fabula Nova Christalis Saga. She is the narrator and a temporary playable character in Final Fantasy XIII-2 and returns as the protagonist and only directly playable character in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Lightning and her reunited allies witness the death of Nova Chrysalia and the birth of a new world free of gods. In the new world, Lightning begins her life anew. On a sunny day, Lightning emerges from a train arriving in a modern town as she embarks on a peaceful journey to reunite with her friends.
